Welcome to Drops of Jules! My name is Julia and I am kind of in love with life. My blog is centered around health, recovery, college, friends, and anything else that may cross my mind. Be prepared for some random posts; sometimes I feel like I have to tell you all something.
My mom and dad are my biggest supporters. I could write a book specifically on how great they are.
Grant is my brother who is the smartest guy I know. He graduated college at the age of 20. Yep. He’s a genius. We both love our beanies.
I really really enjoy running. My relationship with running has not always been the greatest, but since I came to college, I have found a much healthier balance within all things.
Speaking of college, I am currently a student at the gorgeous San Diego State University. I am double majoring in English and Religious Studies. It’s a lot of work but I LOVE IT. I am also a Resident Advisor, and while the work is challenging, it is the best job I could have.
Going with that, the primary reason I initially began this blog was to document my recovery from anorexia. It began at the end of my junior year in high school, and I did not begin to truly recover until senior year. Much of the actual progress can be found on my Lord Still Loves Me instagram, and if you would like to read the story of my eating disorder, you can view that here. Be prepared, it is a tad long!
Many people might know me as the girl from this Transformation Tuesday picture that went viral in January of 2014.
All of my posts on recovery can be found HERE.
I can now confidently say that I am in a MUCH better place with regards to my recovery. Not every day is perfect, and I still have my slip ups, but I am on the road to full remission, with no relapse in sight. I am growing everyday, and I am proud of that.
Another deep passion of mine is writing. I yearn to write and I get such contentment from growing in this field. As of right now, I just finished a novel, and am in the midst of the editing process. AGH.
I am a knitting fiend.
With that, I also read books like a manic. Book reviews may pop up every now and then here on the blog, and while I do not consider myself an expert, I will be giving my raw feelings about every book. If I hate a book, I will be upfront about it. On the other hand, if I love a book, I will probably never shut up about it. I apologize in advance for that.
I am kind of an ice cream freak. My two favorite flavors ever are Ben & Jerry’s S’mores and Ben & Jerry’s Cake Batter. I started a hashtag on Instagram that encouraged those going through recovery from an eating disorder to eat ice cream! It’s titled #LordStillLovesIceCream, and I highly encourage you to check it out! It started out as having a pint of ice cream, but really any ice cream will do. It’s a wonderful way to challenge the irrational fears one has about certain foods. No food will make you fat simply because it is a food that seems scary. I promise, ice cream is amazing.
Other foods I will never say no to are: bananas, oatmeal, carne asada burritos, clam chowder, Italian sausage, jalapeños, and milk.
I hope you enjoy my blog and you stick around for the long haul. I am excited to see where this blog will take me and my readers as I travel through college!
