Every time I come on the blog to write a post, I stare at my screen thinking to myself… well?
With the school year wrapping up, it’s evident that I’m feeling a bit lost. I want something to sink my teeth into, and I’m feeling restless and a bit lethargic. Those are all indicator I need a new project to work on.
Earlier in the year I was working on my second novel, but with the workload I had during the semester, there was no way I could dedicate the time it deserved to it, so I let it slide. Now, so much time has passed away that I’m unable to recall specific details about where I was going for the book. A few days ago, I decided I was going to read a chapter a day and take notes on the details of the book- that way I can remember the specifics. I still remember where I wanted to go and the plot points I’ve yet to write, but I need to become reacquainted to the quirks and personalities of each character. So: Project 1.
But I want something more. I want a Project 2. I’ve tossed around a couple ideas, but nothing is set in stone. We have an old piano back home. Part of me wants to bust it out and try to learn to read music. Or take my ukulele back up. I’ve thought about enrolling in karate classes, but that requires funds, and I’m not sure how far I can get in one summer.
All that to say, I’m open to suggestions! Has anyone taken on a summer project in previous years that totally reinvented their definition of summer? That’s really what I’m looking for. I need a fresh start! Something to get my mind rolling and buzzing in a new direction. It can also be something to track on the blog, rather than my sporadic, emotional rambles. Those of course, will still be here and around. I just want to have more content to write about as well! I think something to keep me busy will also keep my emotions in check. If you have any ideas, send them my way!
Happy Sunday evening y’all! I look forward to any suggestions or advice. You all are so resourceful.
